William Thornton was born about 1425 in Newton, West Riding, Yorkshire, England. He died 17 March 1487.

He married Agnes Aldborough. She was born about 1430 in Plumpton, Yorkshire, England. She was the daughter of Richard Aldborough and Agnes Plumpton.
